Nancy Caponi
Massage Therapy
Nancy Caponi is a Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist (LMBT, NC License #13620), Certified Neuromuscular Therapist (NMT), and Certified Orthopedic Massage Therapist (OMT) – as well as a Certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist (ESMT).
Born and raised in Illinois around the St. Louis area, Nancy grew up with a love of sports, music, cooking, reading, hiking, biking, and most important, a keen interest in the human anatomy and helping others (she grew up wanting to be a heart surgeon). As an adult with a Bachelors Degree in both Management Information Systems and Administrative Services from Southern Illinois University, Nancy was blessed early on with a methodical mind for processing information.
Although this led her first to a successful career in the software industry managing large accounts, her love of medicine and wellness have always pointed the way to the healing arts. Over the past 20 years, Nancy has practiced many mind-body modalities including herbal remedies, visualization, meditation and stress management, Tai Chi, Yoga, Chakra Balancing, Reiki, and Shamanism. In fact, Nancy has been a Traditional Usui Reiki Master and Teacher since 1996.
In 2002, Nancy headed back to school to begin adding over 1,000 hours in various massage modalities. Nancy completed the Swedish massage program and a certification as a Neuromuscular Therapist (works with managing pain as well as faster recovery from injuries) from Sterling Health Center in Addison, TX. In addition to the deep tissue and neuromuscular training, Nancy has continued in the areas of Pregnancy massage, Cranio-Sacral (Upledger’s program), manual lymphatic drainage, and has extensive training in Myofascial Release under John Barnes’ tutelage. Nancy added on a certification in Orthopedic Massage (under the training of James Waslaski) during 2014-2015.
She has also studied various cultural forms of shamanism over the years including Inca (Q’ero-Peru), Celtic, Hawaiian, and some Native American practices. Nancy incorporates these Shamanic teachings, her intuitive ability, her chakra and energy work and the Reiki into her practice. Nancy teaches core Shamanism, performs soul and power animal retrieval, and does healing extractions for her clients. She has always aspired to be involved with something that would allow her to connect with people and animals and be more directly involved in that individual’s health pursuits, emotional stability, and overall well being. Specifically, Nancy believes that mind and touch therapy are a necessity, not a luxury. Nancy encourages others to learn more about themselves and alternative healthcare modalities and the advantages of using them in conjunction with the Westernized medical modal to heal and balance their mind, body and soul. Nancy’s coaching and body work has helped thousands of people and animals with stress, pain management and faster recovery from injuries or illness.
